Text:   The following article comes from the Fernie Free Press dated July 29, 1921 p.4:3, Fernie being a short distance from Kingsgate near the Alberta border, and east of Cranbrook.

"Popular Conductor, a former resident, dies at Kingsgate (Lethbridge Herald, Mon. July 25th) George Frederick Goff, 42 years of age, for twenty years a railroad man on the Canadian Pacific Crow's Nest line, will be buried here tomorrow. Mr. Goff, who has been a popular conductor on the Crow line for many years, passed away at Kingsgate Friday of tuberculosis, a disease which grew out of injuries received in a wreck fifteen years ago at Doolin Pit, near Medicine Hat. In this wreck Mr. Goff had his chest crushed. The deceased and his family resided in Lethbridge for about six years. The family is well known here.
George Frederick Goff was born in Christchurch, England, coming to Canada at the age of three. The family settled in Toronto. George later coming west. He started railroading at Medicine Hat. On Feb. 3, 1902 he married Isabel Edith Campbell of Toronto. She with two sons, George, nine, and Lawrence, eleven, survive him. Mr. Goff's father resides at Toronto, also a brother, Charles [Sidney Charles], who lives in that city.
After undergoing treatment in many sanitariums and trying different climates, Mr. Goff returned to his home in Kingsgate, where he passed away. Funeral services were held in Cranbrook Sunday in the Presbyterian church, the deceased being an adherent of that faith.
